About Us
Ted Swartwood, a NASD licensed Investment Representative and creator of the SwingStation Golf Swing Analysis System, currently resides in Central New Jersey and is a former PGA golf professional who competed on the national stage at Division III Skidmore College earning All-America honors; the Hogan Tour (currently called the Nationwide Tour); and also at many, many local events around the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tri state area. Ted spent 15 years in the investment banking and NASDAQ Securities trading world, helping raise money for small public and private companies, and has spent the last 4 years working on the SwingStation concept. He is in charge of our business development as well as our system development.
In Ted’s words: “The game of Golf has been extremely good to me. I have been fortunate enough to play at a very high level (I own the amateur course record of 64 at Morris County Golf Club in Convent Station, NJ) and it has brought me to places around the world, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic, all over the United States, and more, I otherwise would have never gone to. Aside from the places I have been to, it is the people I have met through this game that I appreciate the most…Golf truly is a universal language...sometimes of the four letter word variety! I have enjoyed many memorable moments playing golf and it would be difficult to pinpoint just a few, but shooting 64 was an unbelievable feeling. My 9 year old son has taken to the game and recently I was able to tee it up with him and my Dad…that was kind of cool to have three generations of Swartwoods playing 18 holes together. Flat out; there are very few places I’d rather be then on the golf course with friends and family.”
Tom Swartwood,
CEO, investment banker and adjunct professor of business, finance and law courses. Tom and his family moved to Des Moines, Iowa, in 1994 and while it is now his family’s home, Tom remains a Jersey boy. A graduate of Dartmouth College and Georgetown University Law Center, Tom has helped more than 20 companies navigate successful public offerings and worked with many others on corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and private financings. Tom oversees our corporate operations and runs our Midwest business. A solid 13-handicapper his favorite golf highlights include playing in the Weekend of Golf Member-Guest at Morris County Golf Club in Convent Station, New Jersey with his brother Ted, president of SwingStation, (a tournament first won by Bobby Jones); a hole-in-one on the 17th hole at Fairmount Country Club in Chatham, New Jersey; 1st place finish in the Blazer Day Member Guest at Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa, playing with Ted, and his best round ever playing at Ballyowen Golf Club, Hardyston, New Jersey, playing with his father, Marshall, and son, Atticus.
In Tom's words: "I caddied more than I played as a teenager and learned a lot about golf looping for some of the best players in New Jersey. I was on the bag for the winner of the New Jersey Ladies State Amateur Championship in 1974 (the only loop ever to kiss me), I caddied for a number of men’s champions, and I carried for then Secretary of the Treasury, William Simon (better with money than golf). My golf game actually improved after I picked up the sticks again upon moving to Des Moines, and once I realized that it really is not a game of perfect I grew to thoroughly enjoy the challenges and camaraderie."
